Still getting ready / this is what some of it
August 26, 2021//
looks and sounds like . Moussa Traore is a master drummer from Mali and a friend and drum student brought us together nto mix jazz and malian music…….
we are loving it.
see you all soon for the FPG event on 9/19…
You groan like Keith Jarrett, fortunately not anywhere near as often (or unfortunately if… blah, blah, blah). Enjoyed the Stanley/Moussa musical taste – I will be seeing you in Sept.
Thinking of the passing of one of your many kindred spirits, Charlie Watts, and accepting your active departure from Calle del Agua, brings tears that take their time coming out, and are in no hurry to stop.
I am grateful for the time so far, and hope to hell I do well at making more happen.
my love, my respect…. HQ3
good to hear from you and look forward to seeing you too
I really liked how you sidestepped into some New Orleans Rhumba, a la Professor Longhair, early on in here. While NOLA and Cuba get the props for the rhumba and the mambo, they merely popularized a West African rhythm here in the western hemisphere. Cool stuff, would sound great with a full ensemble!
Thanks and happy to add my South African voice to this joyful collaboration.I played with both Miriam and Hugh in Sa as a teen ager and had a lovely reunion with Hugh in America not too long ago in cambridge at Wellesly
I could hear a some Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masakela in there, too. Palm tree music
